About

Launched in 1971, Chantal provides state-of-the-art cookware, tea kettles, craft coffee essentials, bakeware, and tabletop ceramics to the housewares trade. Leading the industry to embrace and establish color trends via enamel-on-steel kettles and stainless steel cookware, Chantal has often blazed its own trail. The first to develop tempered glass lids for cookware, an innovation that allows customers to watch their food simmering without releasing valuable moisture and nutrients, Chantal is also the first to provide stay-cool handles for cookware and tea kettles. Chantal is recognized as a leader in the industry, with dozens of design and utility patents to their name.

As Chantal celebrates 50 years in business, Heida Thurlow is that rare entrepreneur who still helms the company she founded. The new commemorative Marigold color launch marks the year as a bold, luscious hue which will brighten any kitchen. Other new introductions include 3.Clad Cookware, additions to their enamel-coated Cast Iron Cookware (including the new Marigold color), and a new large-capacity Stainless Steel Roaster.

Chantal is committed to developing the healthiest cooking surfaces available for today's home cook and constantly strives to innovate product and manufacturing techniques that will lead the way for the future.

Founding Story

In 1970, CEO and founder, German-born Heida Thurlow, relocated to the United States and within a year started Chantal under its current incorporated designation. Not afraid of being a pioneer, Ms. Thurlow has the distinction of being the only woman in her German engineering school class as well as the first woman in the U.S. to launch and run a cookware company.

Heida has received numerous design and utility patents due to her engineering expertise; as a result, cookware with stay-cool handles and tempered glass lids are the norm in many kitchens throughout America. In recent years, Ms. Thurlow has brought innovation to the craft coffee category and continues to dedicate Chantal to the creation of innovative products that bring functional elegance to the home. Celebrating Chantal's 50th Year, Heida Thurlow continues to helm the company and steer it in a forward-thinking direction while never taking "no" as an answer.

The first woman to found and run a cookware company in the US, Heida Thurlow started Chantal cookware in October 1971. German-born and educated, Heida had settled in burgeoning Houston, Texas the year before with her engineering degree and a passion for cooking, functionality and beauty. She has received dozens of design and utility patents for teakettle, bakeware and cookware that attest to her determination and eye for detail. Under Thurlow's direction, Chantal became the first kitchenware company to bring dramatic color, tempered glass lids and stay-cool handles to the marketplace.

Serving on numerous boards over the years, including the International Housewares Association, Heida has dedicated herself to the housewares industry and made a lasting mark on the international gourmet community. Ms Thurlow is the first woman in the U.S. to helm a multi-million dollar company 50 years after founding that same company.
